Later this year we will be needing some help in the office as KAT will be away from mid-August through until mid-October. For this 8 weeks we will need someone with some computer skills to assist Rev. Kirsten in the church office. Duties will include tasks such as: finalizing bulletins, answering phone calls and emails, working in consultation with Kirsten and the wardens, and generally assisting with office duties. If this is something you feel you might be called to do for 8-10hrs a week or know of someone who might be a good fit, please speak to Kirsten or the wardens.
It seems that during the two weeks that the daycare was on spring break, there were a few mishaps in the 'blue room' that the daycare occupies. They found moldy cups, garbage, damaged toys and damage to a wall done while they were away, and we want to be sure that we are courteous and responsible landlords. While Courtney and the staff have given permission for St. Mary’s to use this space on Sundays, please remember to be respectful of this space. Just as a reminder: please do not take food or drinks into the blue room as it is too easy to forget a cup or leave garbage behind and spills are more difficult to clean up. If any of the toys or play items are used, please treat them with respect and return them to the appropriate places when finished. Thank you for your attention to this matter as we continue to be in community together.
The time will soon be upon us when Archbishop Linda Nichols – Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada – will be here on the Island with us! Archbishop Linda will be leading the women’s retreat this year before heading down to spend some time in Victoria with our siblings to the south. However, our Archdeacon Elizabeth Northcott has secured a special visit with the Primate for those of us in the north before she returns home to Ontario.
There will be a midday service at 11:30am on Wednesday April 24th, followed by a luncheon at St. Mark’s, Qualicum Beach led by the Primate Linda! This is a BIG deal as a visit from the head of the Anglican Church of Canada does not happen every day, so we anticipate good numbers for this event. With that in mind, there is a request that people sign up as there are limited number of seats. St. Mary’s has been granted 10 spots to begin with but more may become available…. so if you are interested, please email Kirsten ASAP at incumbent@stmarynb.ca to let her know so she can send the list of names off to St. Mark’s by the end of next week!
