From the Rector's Desk

Friends,

This week begins a few changes in and around the parish and while it will take a bit of time to adjust, my hope is to keep you all as informed as possible.

To begin with, this is KAT’s last week in the office until after Thanksgiving, as she is on her way to England on Monday. We wish her many blessings for a fantastic holiday and look forward to all the stories of her adventures when she returns. The flip side of this is that we had Elizabeth in the office on Tuesday for training and she will officially begin as the relief office admin on Monday, August 12th.  With this in mind, please note: office hours will be Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 2pm starting this week. To assist Elizabeth as she settles in, next week my St. Mary’s office days will be Monday and Tuesday for one week only. I ask you for your patience and grace as Elizabeth finds her way in the office and the wardens and I cover off other tasks as needed.

Secondly, With KAT away, Cris working and Elaine away, on August 11th we will not have a recording of the service. I know that many of our folks who travel, are away or are home for whatever reason, enjoy staying connected to the community through our weekly recordings. However, with only three people on the rotation, there may be times in the coming months when we will not be able to offer this ministry unless a few more folks come forward. If you are interested in supporting this ministry for those who are beyond our walls, please let me know as I am happy to walk through the process with you. I promise it is not that difficult – if you can take a photo with your cell phone, you can film the service! So please do give it some prayerful thought and let me know.

The coming few months are going to see a lot of changes and I invite you to simply be open to where the Spirit is leading us through this time. Some of this change is to accommodate KAT being away, and some of it is to help keep me from working 50+hrs a week between the two communities. We will be doing more things together with our siblings in Christ within Oceanside throughout the Fall and I welcome your prayers as we navigate this time together.

As always if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out as I am always available to you even when I’m not at my desk.

With peace and gratitude,

Kirsten +

St. Mary’s Matronal Feast Day will soon be upon us and this year we will be celebrating on Sunday August 18th! To make the day special, we will be having a bunwich lunch (by donation) after the service, and as Margaret has arranged for the day off, we will have a special guest musician (and no I don’t mean Cris!).  Get ready to CELEBRATE!

Musician needed -  Parksville Church

Our friends at St. Anne and St. Edmunds are looking for a new musician to join their worship team beginning August 25th. The position would be 2-3hrs/week providing accompaniment on Sundays and working with Rev. Kirsten in musical leadership for our worship services. Competitive compensation is available and duties for planning and selection of songs are flexible.  If you or someone you know might be interested in joining us or if you would like more details, please contact us.  Resumes or enquiries can be emailed to wardens@oneopencircle.org
