FROM THE DESK OF THE RECTOR

This is a timely message for these stressful days.  Please pray for wisdom, peace and kindness to prevail and that each one of us be beacons of light, hope and compassion.

I suggest balancing the time spent watching the news with time reading and reflecting on the Good News.  For every flare-up of anger or frustration inside you, you might say a prayer for understanding, for healing, for peace.

And think of one thing every day you can do to support someone who is having a hard time – sending a card, writing an email, making a call, baking a treat to drop off.

We need to spend as much time building up as is spent tearing down.

And then we leave the rest to God.

The Serenity Prayer is a wonderful guide and reminder. Here it is in its entirety:

God grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can;

And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world

As it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make things right

If I surrender to His Will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life

And supremely happy with Him

Forever and ever in the next.

Amen

Some of you may remember Stanley Hegstrom.  He was interred next to his wife, Aileen, on Sunday September 12.  His family came from far and wide to celebrate his life.  It was a glorious day!
