The Rev. Kirsten Evenden began her ministry with St. Mary’s in September 2022 as our Deacon in Charge and was Priested right here in the community January 2023. A self proclaimed “Island girl at heart”, Kirsten grew up on Vancouver Island and will tell you she spent much of her childhood exploring forest floors, ocean shores and watching the beauty of the night sky. Kirsten completed her Master of Divinity through the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax NS and while this may be her first parish, she comes to us after years serving churches and the diocese of BC in many different capacities. Kirsten brings with her a love of music and creativity in liturgy, as well as much experience with intergenerational ministry opportunities and a passion for community building. In her spare time Kirsten can be found embracing creative expression through music, writing and photography, enjoying the beauty of Island living, as well as working on projects with her husband around their home in Nanaimo.
