From the Rector’s Desk

Every day that I am in the office, at some point throughout the day I end up walking through the hall and inevitably get pulled into conversations with 3yr olds. And more often than not, they want to share with me the “craft of the day” based around whatever the theme of lessons for the week may happen to be. Well this week as we get ever closer to Halloween, the theme has become one of pumpkins, costumes and monsters!

Tuesday morning I had a number of the children run over calling, “Miss Kirsten, come see my monster!” And taking me by the hand I was led to the craft table and introduced to the variety of new little monsters that the children had created. As I listened as the children told me all about their monsters. They took turns telling me the names they have chosen and the unique features of each one – some had 3 eyes, another had 3 legs, and one had 3 horns – and were so incredibly proud of what they had created.

Listening, and watching the sheer joy on the children’s faces, I couldn’t help but think about each of us being similar to these little paper monsters. Each one of us is lovingly created with joy and wonder, given a name and unique features so that no two of us are alike. We are all so different, and so loved by the one who created us who watches us with sheer joy as we mix and mingle with all the other little ‘monsters’ in the world. So please enjoy the photo as you think about the God who created you, lovingly choosing your unique features knowing that the world would be a better place with one of you in it.

From one little monster to another,

Kirsten +
