And…. now we can say “Halleluja!!”
Thank you Elaine for the beautiful flowers around the Wayside Pulpit.
I hope you all had a good Easter.
It is always quite a journey through despair, loss through to renewal, life and hope! And this year was so different. We journeyed with others bound together by prayer and intention, not the possibility of simply being physically together in our beloved church building.
We had to lean into what it means to be church – the body of Christ. And there were many beautiful things about that. We had to put more energy and creativity and imagination into our worship; we had to reach out more intentionally; we had to be present to our reality. And find ways of celebrating and giving thanks.
Our world was rocked by the birth and death of Jesus 2000 years ago. And today, our world is being rocked by this Covid-19 virus. As in Jesus’ day, there will be those who want to return to “life as normal,” and there will be those who take up the challenge to walk into a new world, and learn what needs to be learned, change what needs to be changed, and receive the new life, this new chance, given us through our Creator.
These are difficult, challenging, painful times, and these are times full of possibility and potential.
After Jesus rose from the dead, when people were full of mixed emotion – dread, fear, hope, and elation. People met Jesus in his resurrected form – familiar yet so different.
We too yearn for the familiar. But we are being called to something different. How will we be in the face of this change? We can’t decide how the world will be. We can only be open with our hearts, minds, ears and eyes to what our teacher and saviour has to say, what the Spirit is calling us to, and what God is offering us.
Our prayer life is important to help ground us; our faith will give us the courage to be equal to the challenges and opportunities.
So I encourage you to keep praying, keep reaching out to one another, and keep reading Scripture, or whatever reminds you that all will be well, and we are held in God’s hands, and that love for God, one another, and God’s creation is the way forward. It always has been!
If any of you are facing financial distress during these challenging times, please give me a call and I’ll get back to you within a day.
I want to thank KAT for holding down the fort this past month while I’ve been at home! It’s good to know the office is in good hands!!
God bless you all,
Selinde
PS: Anne Bailey shared this photo of our very own Onnig

properly gloved and masked, to pick up plants for the PMG.
