There will be no Note from the Rector for the next two weeks due to Kirsten’s medical leave. Kirsten is doing really well and was discharged on Monday at 4 pm. She has some pain and discomfort but is doing lots of R & R and bingeing some new TV series. And she needs to be reminded to lift nothing heavier than a 4 litre milk jug for the next 3 months!
Jennifer and John Creighton offered back in January to purchase and install a new bench in the PMG in memory of their Ms. Chia. On Sunday May 7, Don and Jennifer walked the area and discovered a large, long tree had fallen right above and across the St. Francis statue and existing bench. Jennifer arranged for the disposition of the fallen tree. The wood from the tree was taken by Ray Denney. Job well done and many thanks to all involved.
Please tell your family and friends! In particular, we are looking for tools large and small, sports equipment, smaller items of furniture and of course anything else just lying around the house. Sue G is looking for some help digging up plants for the sale, so please contact her directly.
We are a local expression of the Anglican Communion ministering on Vancouver Island, across the Gulf Islands of the Salish Sea (Strait of Georgia), Broughton Archipelago and Kingcome Inlet through forty-six worshipping communities. Click this link to watch the Land Acknowledgement welcome video from the Synod. St. Mary’s is around the 3 minute mark. As a Diocese, we seek to live out our baptismal covenant to respect the dignity of every human being and to safeguard the integrity of God's Creation. We understand ourselves to be at the beginning of the long road to Truth and Reconciliation. Our churches seek to welcome all of God's children as beloved.
