We have a new bishop! After 7 ballots, the majority of clergy and the majority of the laity each voted in favour of electing Rev. Anna Greenwood-Lee as our new bishop. Bishop-elect Anna currently lives in Calgary with her family. She was ordained in the Anglican church in 2000 and has served in her current parish, St. Laurence in Calgary, since 2006. She has an impressive resume. To learn more about her, check out the Diocesan website at https://bc.anglican.ca/episcopal-transition/candidate-information/pages/anna-greenwood-lee

This Sunday is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. We will have a dedication of our new Pet Memorial Garden right after the Sunday service, and then a Blessing of the Animals there at 12:30. Please inform your friends and neighbours!

Please read the report from your Treasurer in the file attached below.

From your wardens, Elaine and Val:

We would like to suggest that the parishioners of St. Mary's collect a purse to be presented to Logan McMenamie at his Zoom retirement party on October 23rd. The donations cannot go through the church financials and they are not eligible for a tax receipt.  Personal cheques (payable to Logan McMenamie) or cash (with note ‘for Bishop’s purse’) can be dropped off at church on Sunday or at the office. All cash received will be transferred into a bank draft and sent to Victoria with the personal cheques in an envelope marked 'With love and best wishes from your Friends at St. Mary, Nanoose Bay'.

The deadline for contributions to reach the Diocesan office is October 16 and so we would appreciate receiving any donations by Thursday, October 8 in order to have time to mail the purse.

Forward House has a new satellite site in Nanoose at the Nanoose Place Community Centre operating on a drop-in basis Wednesdays from 11am – 3pm.  Forward House provides support for adults who experience anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges, or for anyone looking for recovery services or community connection.
